Welcome to Room 36

2025-2026 School Year!

Dear friends and parents,

Hello to all of my friends in room 36! I have missed your faces so much and can’t wait to see you again! For my new friends, I can’t wait to meet you and get to know you! I hope you all got to enjoy your summer at the beach, park, playing with friends and spending time with family.

School starts at 7:45 am. Breakfast is served daily. This year Wednesday will be our minimum day, we will get out at 11:55 am. All other days dismissal is at 2:15 pm. Drop off and pick up will be on Coolidge street at the Gate where my classroom play area is. The gate locks promptly at 7:50, after that time you will report to the front office for drop off.

Please bring a backpack with change of clothes, water bottle, and snacks daily. Please leave the student folder in your backpack and check regularly.

When I have all of our service providers schedules and general education schedules, I will send a link out on Dojo class story with the finalized schedule. This year, per student IEP services the class will have OT, Speech, APE, and some students will have Physical Therapy. Other activities that will be embedded into our schedules include garden, steam activities, and vapa, visual performing arts.

Our schedule will start with a whole group morning circle, then move into small group instruction for reading, writing, and math. Science and/art will be whole group instruction. We will be using the following curriculum: Reading: Benchmark adapted curriculum GVS ( for the ESN students) , PALS, Okapi, and I Ready (online program). Writing will be themed writing with art per month. Math: Will be focused on GVC as well as goals with  I Ready ( online program). For Science we will follow the district STEAM units, Brain pop Jr, and art will be seasonal/holiday art throughout the school year. The social emotional learning curriculum will be Leader in Me and we also work with Zone of Regulation. .

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. If you would like to work on homework, I will send computers home and would like students on the reading and math programs for 15 minutes for math, and 15 minutes for reading an afternoon with parent support as needed.

Student behaviors will be tracked through class dojo/ daily tracking. They are able to earn points and lose points for expected and unexpected behaviors. These points will reflect your child’s day throughout the school day for communication about behaviors and academics. Classwork is sent home at the end of the month after it fills all of our bulletin boards with the Fabulous student work. If a book is sent home, it will  be for the week to practice repeat reads each night. High frequency words will be given out to practice as well. It is highly recommended you read to your child every night, with accompanying questions ( who, what, when, where, why; we will be working on this at school as well). We will be starting a program called Raising Readers. This is a set of books that you will receive each week to read and talk about with your child. The more language they hear the easier it will be for them to learn to read and communicate. Create a daily routine for your child with a schedule. Plan for times in the day when the student will work on homework or on the learning programs. This will help them understand the expectation of completing homework before they go on their tablets or watch tv. For work at home,  login through the Clever portal with your child's ID and password. ( I will send this to you this week).  I Ready is the online program we will use this year that can also be used for homework. If computers are sent home they need to be sent back daily so they can be used in class.

As I receive more information I will send it to you via Dojo.  Dojo will be the main form of communication, whenever I need to send out important information. Of course you can always call or text me as well, 619-633-6165- I will respond quickest to texts but am also available via phone and my email is [email protected]. I am available to communicate from 7:00 am-3:30 pm. If you have any questions, or there is an emergency you are able to call the office or text, but I will get back to you on my break.

Student portfolios will be our class platform for student work. We will have student lead conferences where your child will show you what they are able to do throughout the school year. Work that I will not use for work samples will be sent home bi weekly and at the end of the month when we change our focus. Please take student work out of their backpacks and check DAILY! There is a communication folder that will go home on the first day with information for you. Please return it to the back pack and check on a regular basis.

In Room 36 we are committed to ongoing learning and continued success for each and every child.  Our program focuses on students and families engaging in learning both academically,  socially, emotionally,  and with daily living skills.  Our  goal is to help each student to become independent and make progress towards goals and make new friends.

Please engage with me - I want to help! You can reach me via Dojo ( main form of communication, I will check daily,  text, phone, email or another method for support. I can share with you how and where to find online tools to accompany the work you and your child are completing, and any other issues and concerns that arise. I look forward to working with each of your families this year.

Grades are important, completing work is important, but in our class we are more focused on meeting goals rather than grades and teaching communication and self regulation.  I will be tracking progress and participation. Parents will receive grades and progress towards goals three times a year every 12 weeks when grades are given. This is going to be a great school year with lots of fun and tons of learning!

Love, Ms. Boisclair
